Heritage Grove Middle School will induct 102 seventh- and eighth-grade students into its second class of the National Junior Honor Society at 7 p.m. March 10.

The students will be welcomed into the society at a candle-lighting induction ceremony at the school, 12425 South Van Dyke Road, Plainfield.

The National Junior Honor Society is in its second year at Heritage Grove with adviser Jennifer Elliott. The group aims to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to serve, promote leadership, develop character and encourage good citizenship among its members.

To be eligible for induction, students must be in seventh or eighth grade, completed four hours of community service and maintained a GPA of 3.5.

Heritage Grove teachers have also evaluated the inductees on their behavior of being respectful, responsible and accountable.

 After their induction; the new members will take part in service projects including sponsoring a dance to collect school supplies for the Aspire; Inspire Foundation; and preparing for teacher appreciation week.
