Dist. 202 Students Attend DARE Program in Springfield

  • November 21, 2010

Four students from Liberty and Lincoln elementary schools accompanied Plainfield police officers on a Nov. 17 trip to the Illinois State Capitol to celebrate Illinois DARE Day.

The event was organized by the Illinois DARE Officers Association and state Rep. Tom Cross (R-Plainfield). Forty police officers across the state also brought students to Springfield.

As part of the program, students received a behind-the-scenes tour of the Capitol building and got to speak with Gov. Pat Quinn. They also toured several historic sites, including the Old State Capitol and the Lincoln Tomb.

Plainfield's DARE officers are Mark Siegel and Erin Cook.
