Fire Officials Ask for Help in Keep Hydrants Clear of Snow
The Plainfield Fire Protection District is asking residents and businesses that have fire hydrants on their property to please clear the snow from around them to allow for faster access in the event of a fire.
Even with today’s computerized data that lets firefighters know where the hydrants are located it is still difficult when they pull up and the hydrant is buried under snow. When this occurs, firefighters lose precious time while digging the hydrant out.
Ideally, an area of three feet should be kept clear around a fire hydrant. Please call 815-436-5335 if you have any questions.
