The Illinois Lincoln Highway Coalition (ILHC) received a grant for the construction of Interpretative Gazebos along the Lincoln Highway. The gazebos will attract travelers' attention and contain interpretive panels that detail the history of the Lincoln Highway in Illinois and locally.
Plainfield was selected as the recipient of one of the gazebos and the Village Board approved the Settlers' Park knoll, located on the east side of the Village Hall, as the location for the structure.
The ILHC contractor installed the gazebo while the Village's Public Works Staff installed the concrete pad that the gazebo sits on. Be sure to check out the gazebo the next time you visit the Village Hall or Settlers' Park. For more information about the Lincoln Highway or the ILHC, please visit www.drivelincolnhighway.com.
