Military Memorabilia on Display at Plainfield Library
The Plainfield Public Library will exhibit items from the Plainfield Historical Society's museum collections.
World War I items will include an Army Signal Corps Jacket, a doughboy hat, Army ammunition cartridge box and Soldier's Hand Book.
World War II items will include ration booklets, photos, officer's caps and a Chicago Daily News issue from Sept. 1, 1939.
These items and others will be display in the cabinet next to the library's entrance until Dec. 8.
Three large hand-painted plywood boards listing all of themen and women from Plainfield who served in the armed forces during WWII will also be on display. The boards were originally dedicated June 18, 1944 and were displayed on Lockport Street until the end of the war.
