Road Closures Planned for Saturday's St. Mary Immaculate 5K Run
On Saturday, the St. Mary Immaculate 5K Run will be occurring in and around the St. Mary church and school.
Due to the large number of participants expected and the planned event course, commuters and residents may experience increased traffic or temporary road closures, according to a Plainfield Police Department press release.
The first race will be a kids 2K Run that begins at 8 a.m. near the St. Mary Immaculate School; proceed north on Frederick Street to Robert Avenue; proceed east on Robert Avenue to Benson Avenue; proceed south on Benson Avenue to Julie Avenue; proceed west on Julie Avenue to Frederick Street; proceed south on Frederick Street to Getson Avenue; proceed east on Getson Avenue to the Central Elementary School property onto Renwick Road; proceed west on Renwick Road to Frederick Street; proceed north on Frederick Street to the end point at St. Mary Immaculate School.
The second race will be a 5K Run that begins at 8:30 a.m. near St. Mary Immaculate School; proceed north on Frederick Street to Robert Avenue; proceed east on Robert Avenue to Benson Avenue; proceed south on Benson Avenue to Julie Avenue; proceed west on Julie Avenue to Frederick Street; proceed south on Frederick Street to Getson Avenue; proceed east on Getson Avenue to the Central Elementary School property and return on Getson Avenue; proceed west on Getson Avenue to Frederick Street; proceed south on Frederick Street to Renwick Road; proceed east on Renwick Road to Howard Street; proceed south on Howard Street to Orchard Lane; proceed west on Orchard Lane to Dan O’Connell Drive; proceed south on Dan O’Connell Drive to Rueben Street; proceed west on Rueben Street to Arbor Drive; proceed north on Arbor Drive to Renwick Road; proceed west on Renwick Road to Frederick Street; proceed north on Frederick Street to the end point at St. Mary Immaculate School.
Due to the race, the following roads will be temporarily closed and parking will be prohibited beginning at 7:45 a.m. until the bulk of the runners/walkers have cleared the area:
- Frederick Street between Robert Avenue and Renwick Road
- Renwick Road from Howard Street to Route 59
- Arbor Drive from Renwick Road to Rueben Street
- Dan O’Connell Drive from Renwick Road to Rueben Street
It's anticipated all roadways will be re-opened no later than 9:30 a.m., once the bulk of runners/walkers have cleared the area some roadways may open earlier.
Parking for this event will be available at St. Mary Immaculate Church.
