In 2009, Naperville locals, Ed & Dana Kubiak and Jim & Michelle Clifford coupled their shared passion for the fruit-of-the-vine and ingenuity to bring a taste of the wine country into any home. Yesterday’s finest vintages become today’s treasures via the “Second Vintage” custom wine barrel creation collection. In California alone, 200,000 hand crafted oak wine barrels made from 200 to 300 year old trees are discarded by wineries annually! Craftsman, Jim Clifford, transforms retired wine barrels into warm and rustic serving trays and home décor which is ideal for casual entertaining or even the most elegant of occasions. Barrel staves become unique serving trays and candelabras while a wine barrel head may become a lazy susan to extend the life of such noble oak. Offering a colossal of the finest accessories direct from the wine country, Second Vintage is quickly establishing a local following and becoming a trusted brand for cutting edge gifts. Although a local shop has not been opened as of yet, anyone can host an in-home “Barrel Party” and earn “barrel bucks” to use themselves. “Our company offers a wonderful opportunity for local moms to become a “Barrel Party Consultant”. Leading “Barrel Parties” is flexible and a fun way to earn extra money.” says Dana Kubiak.
Brooke Simpson of Plainfield is the newest Second Vintage Barrel Party consultant and says, “I became a consultant because Second Vintage products are so unique, and I was impressed by the quality of the craftsmanship. I’ve already participated in several vendor shows and hosted Barrel Parties in the area, and I’m really excited about bringing Second Vintage to Plainfield and surrounding communities.”
