Twenty Area School Bands to Perform at Plainfield Invitational Concert Band Festival
The Plainfield Invitational Concert Band Festival will feature 20 Plainfield-area high school and junior high/middle school bands will perform April 30.
The performance will take place at the Plainfield High School -- Central Campus and include two bands from each of District 202's four high schools. Other participants include concert bands from Lemont, Fenton, Naperville North, Joliet West, HD Jacobs, Thorton Fractional South, Yorkville and New Trier high schools. The Plainfield Middle School Honor Band, under the guest direction of Charles Staley, will open the performances.
Although the event is noncompetitive, university band conductors will evaluate and critique the bands. Among the judges are Mark Heidel from the University of Iowa; Linda Moorehouse from the University of Illinois; and Bruce Moss from Bowling Green State University.
Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens.
