Blog: Options Make Reducing, Reusing Easier

There are so many ways to get rid of unused household items these days -- resale stores, Web sites -- that there's no reason to throw things usable items away.

Have you noticed the number of resale stores have increased? Habitat For Humanity, Salvation Army, Goodwill and even resale designer clothing stores.

Reuse and recycle; it's a concept that makes sense now more than ever.

There is a terrific national organization called The Freecycle Network with local affiliates nearby where you can post an item online to be given away -- or find something you're looking for -- for free. This is one of the best kept secrets around but maybe not for long. You'll find it at http://www.freecycle.org.

Don't leave that table at the curb. Give it away via the Freecycle Network. All those little plastic yogurt cups you throw in the trash without a second glance? Offer them on the Freecycle Network and a local school teacher or gardener may take them off of your hands for art and seed projects.

Reduce, reuse and recycle. Living green for less, organic gardening, making your own natural and affordable products for home and personal use, renewable energy news, you can find information on all this and more at my Web site, http://www.livegreen4less.com. You'll find a green news feed and jobs board there, too.
