Busy Weekend with Spooktacular, Huge Fall Craft Show
Trick-or-treating, hayrack rides, free pumpkins and lots of crafts are on the agenda for activities downtown and at the Plainfield Central.
Trick-or-treating, hayrack rides and the village’s largest craft fair equal a full schedule for folks looking for something to do this weekend.
Celebrate Halloween with ’s annual Spooktacular on Saturday. And then get a jump on holiday shopping and decorating at the Plainfield Band Boosters Fall Craft Show Saturday and Sunday at , 24101 W. Fort Beggs Drive, Plainfield.
A huge variety of handmade crafts will be featured at the craft show, which supports band programs at all four high schools.

The 14th annual show will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
“This is the biggest show we’ve done, with 175 spaces,” said Margie Bonuchi, a volunteer and former president of the Band Boosters who also serves as a village trustee and director of technology for . “This show is so important because with funding being the way it is they need the money.”

The show brought in $14,000 last year, she said. When it began in 1998, the craft show was held twice a year. Now it is an annual event.
A lunch menu, including the ever-popular baked potatoes, will be available for purchase. Students also will run a bake sale both days.
Admission is $2, and free for attendees under age 18. Admission includes a ticket for the $100 cash raffle.

On Saturday, save some time to visit MainStreet Plainfield’s Spooktacular.
The annual affair typically draws up to 1,000 children to downtown Plainfield for trick-or-treating, hayrack rides, pumpkin crafts and more. Evening events also will be offered for adults.
Nearly 30 shops and restaurants will participate in trick-or-treating from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bags will be available (while supplies last) at the MainStreet office at 24044 W. Lockport St. Pumpkin and treat signs will mark the route and participating businesses.
Other festivities starting at 10 a.m. include a pumpkin giveaway (while supplies last) at , Halloween crafts at , spooky hair sprays at Top Reviews Salon, a number-guessing game at , free hot cider served by State Rep. Tom Cross and hot chocolate and coffee served at .
At 11 a.m., free family fall photos will be offered at , weather permitting.
Kids can make a sundae at from 1 to 6 p.m.
A jumpy, games and more will be featured in the new fun fair area from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is a $5 donation.
Hayrack rides through downtown will be offered from 4 to 8 p.m. Participants are asked to donate canned goods or cash for Green Harvest Food Pantry.
A wine tasting will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at while will have its seventh annual Halloween Bash at 10 p.m.
