CiCi's Pizza Hit by Armed Robbers for Second Time in Eight Months

Armed robbers wearing black ski masks and displaying a gun took the contents of the restaurant's safe and locked the employee in the store cooler, police said.

For the second time in less than a year, has been hit by armed robbers.

Plainfield police say two men wearing black ski masks and brandishing a gun entered the 11830 S. Route 59 restaurant  shortly after midnight Saturday and ordered an employee to lie on the floor while they emptied the safe, according to a media release issued Sunday.

The suspects also took personal items belonging to the victim before forcing him into the store's cooler, the release said.

Both men were dressed completely in black, other than white shoes donned by one of them, and were described as white or possibly Hispanic.

No details on what was stolen were released by the police, who asked that anyone with information call the investigations division at 815-439-7658.

The was similar in that the two men displayed a gun, hit the restaurant shortly before midnight, forced them employee to open the safe before putting him/her inside the store cooler.

In that case, however, the robbers struck as the employee was leaving the store and were wearing red bandanas on their faces. Both were described as being black men wearing black hooded jackets and weighing 200 pounds or more. 

Neither was apprehended; they escaped with $2,000.
