Civil War Comes to Life for Plainfield School District Students
Plainfield South sophomore Tom Beck brought historic artifacts to Aux Sable Middle School.
Plainfield South High School sophomore Tom Beck, who performs Civil War re-enactments as a hobby, showed an actual Civil War-era bullet that he found to an Aux Sable Middle School eighth-grade social studies class studying the Civil War. Modeling Civil War uniforms are (from left) eighth-graders Claudia Ligas (behind Beck), Nick Deppe and Josiah McKinnie.

Always a great learning experience. Reenacting may seem strange to some, but those involved learn much about the day to day life of the 1860's. It serves as an excellent way to bring kids interest in US history to life.
A link to a 1996 Plainfield Community TV short film concerning kids during the war. It's a drama made with the help of Civil War buffs.
