Durbin’s Opens Plainfield Location on Monday
The family owned chain is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
The remodeling is done, and the newly hired staff members at Durbin’s will welcome their first diners on Monday.
Located in the former Pom Poms bar and grill at 16031 S. Lincoln Highway, the family owned eatery is the seventh Durbin’s restaurant in the Chicago suburbs.
Owner Tom McAuliffe described Monday as a soft opening for the restaurant, known for its award-winning pizza.
“We’re planning a grand opening for a week or two after that, a big blowout,” he said.
Durbin's has restaurants in Burbank, Evergreen Park, Midlothian, Tinley Park, Palos Hills and Frankfort. From Aug. 24 to 26, the original Burbank location is celebrating its 25th year with live music and more, including 1987 prices.
The family run chain specializes in pizza, ribs, chicken, steaks, burgers and more.
McAuliffe said patrons can expect the same type of family atmosphere and signature dishes at the Plainfield location.
“Same menu, same management, same family,” he said, but a different look than some of the other Durbin’s restaurants.
The Plainfield location boasts a 4,000-square-foot beer garden with 25 tables and five big-screen TVs, McAuliffe added.

inside hasn't changed much--TV's over the bar are gone--New 80" lcd where the old projection screen was---new paint --same bar. Outside allows smoking and was wall to wall at 8:00PM. First day jitters were handled well--I'll be back--1/2 price pizza on Mondays. Good food --friendly bar staff--wardrobe is much tamer than PP's--planning a radio broadcast Thursday. Music was on the down low (dinner crowd)

I am excited to have a new restaurant in Plainfield! I think we are completely over saturated with Pizza places in Plainfield, but I have looked at their menu and read reviews so I am looking forward to trying some of their other dishes. Hopefully it will be as good as the reviews are! We need more variety of restaurants in Plainfield. I spoke with the Mayor about this and he said some more things will be coming soon. It would be nice to have a Potbellys and Flat Top Grill just to name a couple.

Agreed, Evie. There are many people who come downtown who would love to be able to eat someplace that is not a bar. Variety is sorely lacking when it comes to downtown dining options.

went here last night to see my favorite band Hey Jimmy. OMG it smelled like smoke from the people in the front bar smoking!!!! How is the world is smoking allowed?? I could not breathe during my dinner. No vent system. Just some fans circulating the disgusting smoke around. My clothes smelled like smoke BADLY!!! Had to shower when I got home. Repel smoking there PLEASE!!!!!!
