Letter: Donate Gently Used Prom Dressses

Send letters to the editor to shannon.antinori@patch.com.

The Guardian Angels in Joliet are having their annual Prom & Accessory donation drive. They are always interested in gently used prom type dresses of current style. The reason I have to write that is because usually every year they receive, and can not use, dresses from the '80s era - haha. They also take bridesmaids & any formal dresses. They take all sizes but usually have the biggest need for plus-size dresses. For accessories, they also collect formal purses, jewelry and shoes.

Cyndi Fulco and the Plainfield Junior Woman's Club Women's Issues Committee will be collecting all of the donations at our February general meeting.

The Prom N Aid program at Guardian Angel Community Services (GACS) offers teens an opportunity to receive a free prom dress and accessories if they attend a class on dating safety. The class will teach teens about dating violence, sexual assault and building healthy relationships. Teens will receive helpful tips regarding dating safety.

The Guardian Angels give a prom dress to any girl who takes there Dating Safety class where they learn about healthy relationships, prevention of sexual assault, dating violence, and setting boundaries with others.

Dresses can be dropped off (put on the front porch is fine) 15202 Lincolnway Circle, Plainfield, through Feb. 10.

Thank you in advance for your support of this program!

Cyndi Fulco

Women's Issues Chairperson
