Lisa Stebic Case Featured on 'Nancy Grace Mysteries'

The HLN show will highlight the missing Plainfield mom at 7 and 9 p.m. Central time on Friday.

More than five years after Plainfield mom of two Lisa Stebic disappeared, her family is still looking for answers.

On Friday night, the case will be back in the spotlight on “Nancy Grace Mysteries.”

The show will take another look at the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Stebic, who vanished from the Red Star Drive home she shared with her children and estranged husband Craig Stebic on April 30, 2007.

At the time of her disappearance, Stebic’s husband told police she had left the home to go for a workout and never returned. She left her car in the driveway, and her credit cards and cell phone were never used after she vanished.

While police named Craig Stebic a “person of interest” in the case, no one has ever been charged in connection with her disappearance. In 2010, the case was turned over to the Will-Grundy Major Crimes Task Force.

In April, Lisa’s family marked a fifth year since she vanished. They have long since stopped hoping the missing mom will be found alive.

“As time goes on, it’s more and more inherently obvious that she’s dead,” Melanie Greenberg, spokeswoman for the family, told Patch. “She didn’t run away.”

Following the high-profile convictions of Drew Peterson and Christopher Vaughn, Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow pledged to put the Stebic case “on the front burner,” giving family members a reason to hope for answers — and, some day, an arrest in the case.

“The truth is that I know it’s rare for a case in Illinois to be prosecuted without a body,” Greenberg told Patch in September. “But the more time goes on, the more obvious it becomes that she was a victim of foul play,” she added.

The Dec. 28 episode of “Mysteries” won’t be the first time Nancy Grace has featured the Lisa Stebic case; the TV host previously profiled the missing mom in March 2011.

Lisa’s family has established a website, www.findlisastebic.net, dedicated to solving the mystery behind her disappearance.
