Man Admits To Killing Plainfield Woman's Sister

The hit-and-run case in which Melissa Lech was killed in Joliet was unsolved until the Naperville man told the victim's sister, Sun-Times report says.

A Naperville man has been arrested in connection with a 2008 fatal hit-and-run accident after he confessed his guilt Sunday to the victim's sister, who lives in Plainfield.

The death of Melissa Lech, 20, which occurred in Joliet on Aug. 7, 2008, had been unsolved until David H. McCarthy, 27, 1817 Cliffside Court, turned up on Michelle Lech's doorstep, according to a story published Monday by Sun-Times Media.

“He admitted to me that he ... was the one who ran over her, and then he left,” Michelle Lech told a Sun-Times reporter Monday.
