[UPDATED] Joliet Man Dies After Car Drives into Lily Cache Creek
Crews responded to a report of a vehicle upside down in Lily Cache Creek near Route 30. The identity of the victim was not being released Monday afternoon.
Editor's note: This story was updated at 5 p.m. with information provided by the Plainfield Police Department and the Will County Coroner's office.
Plainfield police are investigating the death of a man after a gray Mercedes was found upside-down in Lily Cache Creek Monday morning.
The Will County Coroner's office identified the man as George C. Weathered, 30, of Joliet. Weathered was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:40 a.m.
Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle in the water shortly after 7 a.m. The car was in the creek upside-down about 100 yards south of the bridge near the 16300 block of Route 30/Lincoln Highway, according to Stratton.

In a press release, Plainfield police said they received a call reporting a car in the creek around 7:10 a.m. Upon arriving, officers discovered the upside-down Mercedes "completely frosted over with ice formed in the creek and around the vehicle."
Plainfield firefighters who arrived on the scene discovered a single deceased victim still inside the vehicle, police said.
Sgt. Mike Fisher said an employee at a business in the nearby Lily Cache Plaza reported spotting the vehicle early Monday morning. It's unclear how long the car had been in the creek.
"I can tell you it was there for an extended amount of time," Fisher said, noting that most of the nearby businesses close fairly early on Saturday and do not reopen until Monday morning.
"We have nothing to indicate that anyone reported him missing," Fisher said, adding police are investigating how the car wound up in the creek.
"No one saw it go in," he said. "It's a pretty desolate area of the creek off of the main road."
Slick roads could have been a factor in the incident, he noted. The car doors and windows were closed when it was found, indicating no one had gotten out of the vehicle, he said.
"At this point, it doesn't look like there's any foul play," Fisher said, but noted that police are not ruling it out.
According to the coroner's office, preliminary autopsy findings were inconclusive on Monday. Weathered's final manner and cause of death is pending autopsy, toxicological and police reports.

George was one of my best friends! He was the most kind hearted person I had ever met and Would do literally anything within his powers to help someone out. He was a Loyal and trustworthy man to many friends and family members. Please DO NOT defame his name "CLUTCHE"... You do not know the extent of what his coonviction was even for...To know him is to love him.. Lesson learned.. Hold those close to you because you never know when something so horrible could happen. He is in a much better place now though. We love you George!

Defame is to damage, slander or libel someone's good reputation. I did none of these it's public record. In fact, newspapers referred to the same circumstances when reporting the accident.

Yes, Karma is & I hope you get what you deserve, also, NOT what anyone else thinks you deserve for something they know very little about, if anything. What are the circumstances of the charges (were they pics of his own kids in the tub playing? Or nieces/nephews hamming it up for the camera on a hot day at the beach/backyard? People like you blindly run off a cliff to make a judgement to feel like you're better & so damned superior. I know because I used to be a little like that. Til someone I knew was arrested/convicted of possession of CP. The "porn" in question? His own daughter & son playing in the bathtub and running around the house in pampers/clothed, and naked, over many weeks, laughing & hamming it up for mom & dad, like millions of families every day. They were private family photos, not sexual in any context of the word. Didn't matter to the police/prosecutor/judge. Both parents are now registered sex offenders. For what? For taking pictures of their kids growing up/being kids. For wanting memories for the rest of their lives & share with their kids when they had children. Ironically, and incredibly sadly, they do now.
But I know nothing about this man, or what really happened in his case. Maybe he deserved what happened to himself. Maybe he didn't. Not my call to make. OR YOURS. But one thing IS DEFINITE. You know nothing about it, or if he deserved it. You just rushed to a judgement with no information about someones life. I hope it doesn't happen to you.

You pathetic people have nothing better to do then try and turn people against someone that is dead. What do you gain out of trying to pull things out of his past and who are you to say anyone deserves to die? Especially someone you know nothing about. George was a great person and everyone that knew him loved him.

Polite, nice, hardworking, great, loved. It doesn't change the fact that he was a child pornographer. There are some crimes for which there is no earthly redemption, and this is one of them.

Obviously you know NOTHING about redemption that only the blood of Jesus has paid for. He paid for all of our sins a sin is a sin no matter what that sin is, he does not look at sin in a different light that man does.If you break one part of the law you break it all.Weather murder or stealing it is all the same to him Thank God for his redemption.Man cannot redeem man. He who is without SIN let him cast the first stone and we will see how many stones are cast .Remember my brothers to judge is to be judged yourself with the same degree that you judge.

This guy doesn't look ashamed or remorseful in any of his SIX mug shots. I'm sure he was a real stand up guy. Anyone defending a child predator is just as sick and twisted as the predator himself. Sometimes God works in mysterious ways, sometimes his work is obvious. Hopefully his victim(s) will find solace knowing he cannot hurt anyone else ever again.

Slow down on that lynch mob guys. Possession of child pornography is the federales' preferred charge to get leverage over someone, because the evidence is easy to 'find' and there is no practical defense. If they want to lean on you, this is how they'll do it. It's the FBI/CIA version of the beat cop slipping a crack rock into your pocket during a patdown.

Forgiven,
You are mixing the moral definition of sin with the human definition of law. Speeding is not looked at equally as child pornography. Jesus did not die on a cross to forgive us for jaywalking. You are also omitting that there IS one unforgivable sin, so not ALL sin is looked on equally by God..which by definition means that God DOES 'rate' our 'sins'. BUT...in order for your argument to even hold a drop of water, he would have had to have asked to be forgiven for his sins, and done his best to rectify them. Did he show any sympathy for the victims? Empathy? ANY signs of remorse? Did he start working to actively help police find other child pornographers etc? Going to church, does not a Christian make...

You people are horrible. you have no right to judge someone or a situation that you have no clue what happened. You read something on the internet and it must be true, right? Grow up. What about all the things that you have done in your life? I am pretty sure there are things a few questionable things. So leave this poor man alone because you didn't know him. And you are right karma is a bitch and for all the bull you say will come back to bite you in the butt. He didn't hurt anyone, where do you people get this information from?! If you have no idea what you're talking about then don't say anything at all. He was someone's son, nephew, and a friend. Rest in Peace George. You will be missed! As for the rest of you, go to hell, this is a terrible time for the family and friends that actually knew him, give us some respect. I am sure that's what you guys would have liked if this would have happened to you

You internet trolls are all the same. You think you are so intelligent and try to argue things you know absolutly nothing about by relying on Google. Not everything is as black and white as it seems. We that knew George all loved him and some random people omline arent going to change our minds so why are you still wasting your time? Oh, right. You have nothing better to do. George was my older brother. I knew him for the 28 years that I have been on this earth. He was a good man. He loved racing of any kind and he loved the joy it brought to others. He was the kind of man who would do anything for his friends and family and often helped me work on my car.
He never hurt anyone in his life and you could not ask for a better friend and brother. He was religious and much of his life was devoted to being a good person. Yes he had a conviction years ago but he never hurt anyone, especially not a child. For those who think you know him or what happened from something you read on the internet you are mistaken. But I can understand that if you did not know him and see that label there is no way that you can really know what happened and I might even have that same reaction were I in the same place and did not know the truth or how that label is thrown around in our society.
Thanks for the supportive messages that some of you have left, I really appreciate them.
We love you George. We'll miss you.

Never hurt anyone? Heresay or gossip? Absurd remarks? He is a registered sex offender in the Illinois State Police database, for the crime of child pornography. He was 24 years old and the VICTIM was age 0. He wasn't CONVICTED for possession of child pornography, he was CONVICTED for the reproduction and sale of child pornography. Those are facts. How can you not comprehend that?

Any picture with naked children is considered child pornography. So if you have baby pictures with naked children that is child pornography. Also, if you make a pictures folder available on a file sharing program that is considered reproduction and sale of child pornography. Those are the unfortunate details of the case. Its unfortunate you feel the need to slander people Jim, but you should not speak about a case you know nothing about.
Arif Abufarha
6:56 pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2013
Reproduction and sale are the same category. It does not mean you have done both. All you would have to do for reproduction of child porn is accident open the file on a file share site because then after things download on a file share they seed.

9:13 pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2013
You are incorrect Arif. The majority of offenders are caught by downloading pictures which are considered child pornography, then saving and/or renaming them to storage. Law enforcement routinely trolls known sites and plants photos that have hidden information, just Google steganography. When the photos are located or shared, even if the renamed, gotcha.

I CAN understand you defending your brother/friend/son... but to call other people lowlifes and internet trolls is alittle cowardly... George, whether you loved him or not was found LEGALLY GUILTY of sharing "HUNDREDS" (not just one or two)"HUNDREDS" of videos of CHILDREN, Let me say it again, CHILDREN being SEXUALLY abused. I'm not saying he didn't turnover a new leaf, But first impressions are a bitch! He chose to label himself with that stigma when he did what he did instead of seeking help to his illness. Does this mean he "deserved to die", Hell NO! And God help those people who would let those words slip from their lips,(fingers) To George's family/Brother: I am sorry for your loss, and I know nothing will ever fill that void that his untimely death has caused. To the friends: But please pull your head out of the sand and have a little understanding of why people are saying what they are saying. These were innocent Children. I know he didn't personally touch them himself, but there are laws against what he did, and justice was served. Now my question to you the naysayers: Should he have to pay for his mistakes in death too?

How about we all stop talking about this because as I stated before, this is a difficult time for the family and friends. Give us some respect. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. We all make mistakes but we shouldn't be remembered for them, we should be remembered for the good that we have done before and after such mistakes. Just leave it be people.
