McBeth Principal, Four Assistant Principals OK'd

Plainfield School District 202 board signs off on new hires, promotions at Monday meeting.

on Monday announced a new principal at the Bonnie McBeth Learning Center as well as four new assistant principals.

Kristin Brower, a special education teacher, will become the preschool principal, replacing Mina Griffith, who was named assistant superintendent for student services in May.

Brower began her career in 2003 in Shorewood and transferred to District 202 in 2005 as a special education teacher at . She has served as a special education administrator at both and .

Four new assistant principals were also named.

Sandra Garner, a 19-year educator, will be the new second assistant principal at . She most recently served as a learning behavior specialist in Naperville School District 203.

Patricia Van Winkle will become the shared assistant principal at both Crystal Lawns and elementary schools and replaces Casey Hartman, who was just named the new assistant principal at .

Van Winkle comes to the district from Villa Park District 45, where she taught fourth grade. She started her education career in 2004.

Hartman, a nine-year educator, takes over as assistant principal at Walker’s Grove Elementary School, replacing Stacey Wilke, who was named principal at Ridge Elementary this summer.

Hartman has worked for District 202 since 2008 in many capacities, including the first assistant principal at Eichelberger Elementary and as a shared assistant principal at both Eichelberger and Crystal Lawns elementary schools. He has also taught fifth grade in Naperville.

Eichelberger Elementary School teacher Laura Weed was named the new assistant principal at . She began her education career in 2006 as a third-grade teacher at Crystal Lawns Elementary School.
