Mr. Clean Car Wash to Be Built in Front of Meijer
Proctor & Gamble is expanding its car wash/lube/detailing business to the Chicago area; ground to be broken here in the spring.
Construction of a $2 million Mr. Clean Performance Car Wash should begin next spring now that the Plainfield Village Board has signed off on its site plan, village Planner Michael Garrigan said.
The 8,000-square-foot car wash/detailing/lube business – one of three to be built by Proctor & Gamble in the Chicago area – will sit on about two acres of land in front of the Meijer store, 13521 S. Route 59. Mr. Clean car washes are also planned for Montgomery and Glenview, Garrigan said.
The business will have eight bays to do oil changes and car detailing as well as an automated car wash, similar to the Turtle Wax Car Wash in Plainfield or the Delta Sonic Car Wash & Detailing in Joliet.
According to the company's Web site, www.mrcleancarwash.com, washes start at $6 for a basic exterior soft cloth wash and escalate to the $28 Mr. Clean Signature Shine, which includes an under-body rust inhibitor, triple shine polish, surface protectant, wheel guard and air freshener.
There are a dozen Mr. Clean Performance Car Washes in the Atlanta area as well as two in the Cincinnati area and one in Round Rock, Texas.
