Front Street Cantina is our regular spot. The food is consistently good and the margaritas are amazing. We often meet friends and family there and we love the wait staff.

This one is new to me but Tortilla Flatz has the best sauces and some killer burritos.

Anyone not choosing La Adelita to be the best mexican restaurant in town hasn't been there before. Not good, GREAT margaritas.

I agree 100%! It's not "real" Mexican food! It's like Applebee's "mexcian" food...

L.A. Cafe was the best, but unfortunately was a casualty of the US 30 construction a couple years back. Now, it's not even close: La Adelita.

I last visited Front Street about 3 yrs ago on 2 occasions. Both were awful! I think their margaritas had beer in them, and the food was inedible. Wondering if anything has changed (i.e. management or menu)? If so, I'd give it a shot. So I vote for La Adelita in Plainfield--good margaritas & chimichangas. But La Mex is the best in Joliet!

I still have yet to find a real "authentic" Mexican restaurant that uses chihuahua cheese, makes their own refried beans, chips, mole, flan, etc, and that is reasonable cost. Oh, one that also has that Mom and Pop home atmosphere like one I used to know in Wood Dale called El Niagara. They were they best until they retired 8 years ago.

The closest to get authentic Mexican is a little family-owned place called Taco Mex on Essington just south of Caton Farm. All of the contestants above indeed do have good food, but I'll echo that they're not authentic.

If Taco Mex is the one by Dairy Queen, then yes I totally agree! They have the authentic mole like my mom and dad's restaurant. Besides that one, La Mex is the best one. Both are in Joliet. Got to go to the heart of it. ;)
