Christian Wayne Glazener, 41, of the 24000 block of Walnut Circle, is being held at the Will County jail on two charges of robbery after stealing hydrocodone and oxycodone from the Plainfield store, police said.

Sgt. Mike Fisher said police have positively identified Glazener as the suspect in a similar June 18 robbery at , 12800 S. Route 59, and believed to also be involved in a at the same location.

In each incident, Fisher said, Glazener handed the pharmacist a note demanding the drugs, both prescription narcotics.

This time around, Fisher said, Glazener implied he had a gun when the pharmacist, momentarily confused, told him he needed a prescription.

“He actually made a movement when the pharmacy employee gave him some static about needing a prescription,” Fisher said. “ … He made a reach for his waistband. He made some kind of statement that he had a gun.”

Fisher said several unmarked squad cars happened to be in the area of the pharmacy when the robbery report came in.

“We got a pretty good description of the suspect vehicle from the previous two robberies,” Fisher said. “Everyone in the department knew what we were looking for. When the call came in, we were all prepared for it.”

But when officers attempted to make a traffic stop, Glazener fled, police said.

“He wouldn’t stop,” said Fisher, who also responded to the robbery, along with several marked cars, which picked up the pursuit for the unmarked vehicles. He said Glazener was traveling slightly faster than the speed limit during the chase, and that it was not a high-speed pursuit.

Police pursued Glazener for about three miles, Fisher said, first chasing him north from Meijer to 127th Street, then following he doubled back through the Walmart outlots to turn around and head back south on Route 59 before heading into a residential neighborhood.

“We ended the pursuit right in front of his house,” Fisher said, adding there was concern Glazener might try to make another run for it, this time through his open garage door, even though he was surrounded.

“He looked back at the garage like he thought about running inside, then he looked back and saw all the officers flying up around me,” Fisher said.

Glazener initially resisted officers and had to be taken to the ground to be handcuffed, suffering minor abrasions, according to Fisher.

He is due in bond court Tuesday morning. Fisher said additional charges could be pending.
