Photo: Ridge Students Celebrate 'Plant Day'

To learn how to grow and nurture their own healthy foods, students planted an American Heart Association Teaching Garden.

Ridge Elementary School students plant vegetables in one of numerous garden boxes that are part of the school's new "Teaching Garden." The school built the garden with the help of the American Heart Association, which supplied building materials for the project. American Heart Association Teaching Gardens teach children how to plant seeds, nurture growing plants, harvest produce and ultimately understand the value of good eating habits. Ridge students and staff hosted a ceremonial "Plant Day" celebration on May 9, 2012 to dedicate the Teaching Garden. submitted photo
