"Last year we collected gifts for local children through the Salvation Army," music academy director Tom Serb said. "We’re doing it again this year by hosting a giving tree."
Anyone who can help by purchasing a gift for a disadvantaged child should contact Midwest Music Academy at 815-254-5778 by Friday, Nov. 9. Serb said the business needs advance notice "so we're not assigned more children than we can help."
The giving tree will be set up at Midwest Music Academy by Nov 14; instead of ornaments, the tree will be adorned with tags containing information on each child and his or her Christmas wishes.
"You'll be able to choose a child from the tree, purchase, wrap and label your gift and return it to us," Serb said.
All gifts should be dropped off at Midwest Music Academy, 16125 S. McClellan Ave., Plainfield, by 5 p.m. Nov. 29. The Salvation Army will collect the gifts and distribute them to kids in Plainfield and surrounding communities.
