Romeoville Police arrested David Allen Schwartz on Friday.
A Plainfield man was arrested Friday and charged with possession of child pornography.
David Allen Schwartz, 42, 1803 Prairie Ridge Drive, was arrested by Romeoville Police and booked Friday into the Will County jail. County records list his occupation as truck driver.
According to county booking records, he is charged with three counts of possession of film, videos or photos containing child pornography.
Schwartz’ bond was set at $2,500. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
Romeoville Police did not immediately return calls from Patch seeking additional information.

I believe his address in Plainfield. I live near him. And I live in Plainfield. Plainfield purchased the land from Joliet as it was formerly known as Plainfield Township. So it is not misleading. It is accurate.

I find his offense much more important then the town in which he lives. I hope his address will soon be Statesville. I believe the residence there are less governed to dispense discipline then the ones that live in Joliet or Plainfield.

Janet, if you live SOUTH of Caton Farm Road (and actually a few locations north of Caton Farm Road), you DO NOT LIVE IN PLAINFIELD. A school district or zip code/postal district is not the same thing as a MUNICIPAL BOUNDARY. JOLIET grabbed the land south of Caton Farm Road and north of Black Road in the mid-1990s as part of its quest to march westward to Route 47. Plainfield did not "purchase the land from Joliet"...good grief, get your facts right!
This sick man is not a resident of the Village of Plainfield. At best, the Patch could state: "resident of Joliet, Plainfield Township, County of Will, State of Illinois." In any case, Sharon is correct: hopefully his address is Stateville (which, btw, is Crest Hill, not Joliet)

Why are you so concerned whether or not his address is in Plainfield Township, Joliet or your precious Plainfield? My builder told us the land was annexed by Plainfield and it initially belonged to Joliet. So if this is incorrect, then my builder lied. Maybe you should get your facts straight??? Regardless, I have very little patience for residents who live in Plainfield proper who think that their neighborhoods are safer, better, or more prestigious than the southside of PLAINFIELD. My daughter lives on the North side of Plainfield and they have just as many problems over there. There are sex offenders registered in every town and on every block. So it is rediculous to even point out boundaries. And being a victim of a sex offender, good grief, get a grip, sick people live in Plainfield proper also... Why should that have even been a point here? Are you kidding me?

It is a little disturbing that his bail was only $2,500.00.

First of all this guy hasn't even been convicted, only charged. I know about this case and the police are making it sound 10,000 times worse than what it really is. Isn't in America that your innocent until PROVEN guilty?

Mike, you missed the point too. By the way, there are sex offenders who live in Plainfield. Check it out. Sorry to break the news to you. You should be more concerned with that as opposed to boundary lines.

Janet,
Didn't miss the point and wasn't intending to diminish the FACTUAL issues of the story. How did you make a quantum leap that I wasn't concerned about the seriousness of the alleged crime just because I pointed out an error in the reporting? Am not deceived that crimes are committed in every community across America, and have no misconceptions that Plainfield is any different. Yes, "anonymous," when Americans are tried in the court of public opinion rather than in a court of law, then the American commitment to "liberty and justice for all" is endangered. I never said I wasn't concerned with crime regardless of where committted, especially when children are exploited.
But, it isn't that difficult to report news accurately; the headline could have read "Local man faces porn charges" if the location wasn't part of the point of the article. All I did was point out that the residential address in question is within the City of Joliet. Just as bad people live in any community, so do good people. And, Janet, it wouldn't be the first time that a builder or realtor misrepresented the facts to sell a home! Obviously, you don't vote because, then, you would know where you lived and for which municipal officials you elect.
Janet, go check with each community planning department to find out how the land became part of Joliet; don't rely on my word if you doubt it. The facts are what they are...

I do vote. I didn't make a quantum leap. Your only concern was about location. You made no reference of concern about a sex offender living in the community. You were not concerned about this man being a threat to the community, once again, your only comment was about location. And then you changed the subject. I have no problem with "Americans who are arrested for sexual crimes" being tried in the court of public opinion. Most children don't speak up about these crimes, so most offenders are never brought to trial. It seems rediculous to argue about whether or not the title of the story was accurate enough to your liking. Why do you keep changing your name? Did you check the sex offenders registery yet for your own neighborhood? You know exactly what you were trying to imply by your initial comment.

Well the truth is the truth what is the truth he is a Joliet man? Report only the truth. Truth does matter.

I've seen this debate in MANY MANY stories here on Patch and unfortunately, if your address states, PLAINFIELD, IL you're a "Plainfield Resident" whether you like it or not. However, I agree with Sharon, we should be discussing his alleged crime rather than where you THINK he lives.

either case of where anyone lives plainfield sucks and so does joliet an shorewood.you people have gotten so far off track the matter of fact is a sex offender was caught red handed again.these people should not be able to live in neighborhoods with children.when you do something so vile as to video tape and molest minors of any age your right to remain annomious is gone.like in the scarlet letter you should have to have something written on your chest that you are a dirty _____.i personally will not stand for some gross dirty ol fart in my neighborhood.i will and do take action.and the whole innocent until proven guilty action in a load of crap.. and the guy lives off of drauden in the subdivision.

I did not see a anywhere in this story that he filmed it, just that he had it. Does that make it OK? Absolutely not. It's disgusting. But let's see what the fcats are. No one in ANY town wants people like this in their neighborhood. But they are in every neighborhood whether you know it or not, whether their face is on the offenders list or not. Parents need to teach their kids, and they need to watch them and know where they are, and who they are with. And even then, you just never know.
Sadly $2500 bail is not uncommon. And if he's convicted then what? We don't even have room for murderers in our jail...where does this guy go? Home with a fine and registering as an offender.

ja mee,
We're working on an update right now. According to police, Mr. Schwartz turned himself in at the Romeoville Police Department and previously lived at a Romeoville address.

At least some get the point that the story was about a sex offender, and not about the boundary issues related to his address. To make that the focus of this story or this blog serves no useful purpose.

Janet,
You know nothing about me, but your continued comments reinforce your swift ability to leap to judgments. Get off your "high horse" for a moment and take my comment for what it was: accuracy in reporting. Location was NOT my only concern but, in this day and age, all of this information (especially from electronic news media) is gleaned and added to the profile of each comunity which affects everything from livability and insurance to relocation of corporations and property values. Those are of concern to me as well. There was no hidden agenda implied in my initial comment...you have become a victim of the 21st century who believes there is a conspiracy behind everything. I know Shannon Antinori's reporting well and believed that she tries to get the facts accurate in her stories. I was very surprised that she reported the address as a "Plainfield" man and told her so with the very same reasons that I have cited here. As far as the anme change, Patch did not recognize my log-in namewhen I tried to reply so I was forced to create another account...simple as that (another conspiarcy theory shot to pieces...). For the record, I am concerned about sex offenders in ANY community, having been a childhood victim myself. But, as a child victim of an evil person, I have not let that be the singular definition of who I am and what I choose to believe about and contribute to my community as a responsible, informed adult.

Whatever. His address is Plainfield. Maybe the reporter should have asked for his Plot of Survey. I wasn't on the high horse. You were. I'm done with this silliness.

This is literally the lamest fight I have ever seen on a blog.
A sicko gets arrested, and people are arguing over where he comes from?
Idiotic.
How about how he's on a such little bail, or the fact that he won't be in prison long, as opposed to a New Orleans resident who just got arrested with pot for the fourth time and received life in prison.

Lol! Plainfield, Joliet, who cares? Plainfield has plenty of sex offenders as well as other problems. Check out watchdog.com and you will see for yourself where they all are. And what does it really matter who lives where anyway? People from PLAINFIELD are not any better then anybody else.
