A Plainfield 21-year-old could have his license suspended after he was nabbed driving more than twice the speed limit, police said.

Ihusseen Odeh is charged with aggravated speeding, reckless driving, and fleeing and eluding a police officer.

Plainfield Traffic Unit Officer Adam Kalar clocked Odeh’s BMW 3 Series doing 113 mph as it traveled south on Wallin Drive at 10:44 a.m. Oct. 16, police said. The posted speed limit is 45 mph.

Sgt. Mike Fisher said Odeh also attempted to elude police after realizing he’d been caught on radar and eventually ditched his fast car to flee on foot.

“He jumped out [of the car] and took off running,” Fisher said, adding police found Odeh hiding under a pine tree.

If convicted of the charges, all misdemeanors, Odeh would not be eligible for court supervision, police said. He could be sentenced to up to a year in jail and fined up to $2,500, along with having his driving privileges suspended.

In a press release, police said the “extremely excessive speed” poses a great risk to other motorists, and noted that a vehicle going 113 mph travels the equivalent of an entire football field in 1.8 seconds.
