Police Raid Plainfield Marijuana-Growing Operation

Ecstasy pills, 92 cannabis plants seized during search of Tipperary Lane home, which resulted in the arrest of a Romeoville man.

Plainfield police and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents seized more than $500,000 worth of marijuana and ecstasy during a search of a Plainfield home Tuesday, police said in a press release.

Quy Doan, 30, of the 200 block of Zinnia, Romeoville, was arrested in connection to the grow operation and is being held at the Will County Adult Detention Center, police said.

According to jail records, Doan was booked on five felony charges: manufacture/delivery of 50-200 grams of schedule I and II substances, producing 50-200 cannabis plants, manufacture/delivery of more than 500 grams of cannabis, possession of 2,000-5,000 grams of cannabis and possession of a controlled substance. He is due in court Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, agents and officers discovered a “huge indoor cultivation of marijuana” while executing a search warrant at 12914 Tipperary Lane. More than 100 ecstasy pills, 92 cannabis plans and “numerous pounds” of loose cannabis were found during the search. The street value of the drugs is more than $500,000, police said.

I would like to see a report that defines how many repeat offenders convicted of violent crimes have been released to make room for people convicted of marijuana related crimes.

100 x pills $20 each.thats $2000 now 92 plants about 2 oz each grown inside according to most sites that deal with marijuana.so thats 184 oz,so that's 16 to each pound and at $4000 a pound in most places according to the sites,so that's $64,000 and numerous pounds..Now if it was a huge amount my guess is it would of been let out for recognition purposes for bragging rights...you still need another $364,000 worth of drugs...And all while more states move to Legalize marijuana..Wasted time money and resources...Who gives a shot..it still didn't stop someone from smoking a joint or going somewhere else to get the X that will for ever be here in e world...Regulation of drugs has caused the most violence to calm down, gangs not making any money, robberies, hold ups and drug crimes have almost stopped in other regulated countries...

well if you did your math right and seeing they knew what they were doing im sure they were getting more along the lines of up to TWO POUNDS PER PLANT. but i did lmao when i read 2oz per plant that person would be retarded if there plants only producted that much with that kind of indoor light system they have.

Randy, you prolly do not want to see that report, but until the law changes, these crimes will be charged accordingly. Violent crime associated with marijuana in Colorado and other states where you can purchase or use for medical purposes is out of control. Crimes against law enforcement, robberies on know carriers of cannabis, burglaries to these Smoke Shops, murders, etc. so just legalizing this substance is NOT the answer.

Let's see your stats on your assertions. Failure to provide info means you're a troll.
Legalize, tax, and lessen the burden on our prisons. This is barbaric.

Wrong JWH...crime has actually went down..Who needs to rob someone's marijuana when it is legal to grow your own..lmao..common sense...Marijuana has dropped in prices..which makes it useless to sell in the streets...If you have a bag of marijuana and you can get $350 for it just bacme worth $50 bacuse you can get it anywhere,in any strain just take a look at all the strains there are..Who needs someone else's pot when you can grow your own...like countries that have regulated the drugs make cleaner stuff reducing deaths, removing profit from gangs,Why do people in Joliet want to be in a gang..Not because of work that's for sure how it all started, not for minority protection like gangs started out..now it is all about the connections and profit of drugs..The more you make it illegal the higher the price..Back in e day 1million of cocain filled half a room..now it sits on the end of a table, less packages worth more money...soon 1 package will be worth a cool million...Even the Pope might try to smuggle drugs then..We just had 3 priests arrested for a drug ring...Prohibition is know to make Mafias,gangs..and profit for them in record numbers all because of Prohibition...How did the Prohibition of Alcohol work for us...And we do not see the pattern of people using drugs just as much as drinking..Time to regulate and let the states, and federal government profit for the people they,We have to pay for..You will never stop drug usage, people will, only create more drugs from Chemicals

Each plant usually harvests around 1 LB of cannabis, which goes for approx $4000-6000

If grow outside..inside you only get about 2 oz each..I have friends that have medical marijuana cards...3 to 4 oz max because of artificial light..Outside which is still illegal to do even in medical marijuana states..Now in states where only Medical Marijuana is legal there is still the problem of people's houses getting broke into to steal the marijuana..Why? To get it smoke it and sell it..In states that have just openly regulated Marijuana no one needs to break into a persons house chances are you have your own stash your tending to..go look on the Internet at people who grow and see how small their plants are..no way your getting a pound from them..Your stats are all wrong buddy..From arrests to growing...Stop listening to the bullshit and do your homework..

And even under 4 1000w lights your not getting a pound from a plant unless your growing it outside and it's 10ft tall...not even hydroponic systems are said to give that much..

This was not a guy growing a little for his own use, this was a dealer. The ethics of the legality of pot can go on and on, but right now, in this state, it is illegal. The ecstasy worries me far more. Lock this guy up, toss the key.

For what? Take his life away while the U.S. government has allowed more drugs to enter this country via " Fast and Furious" scandal...you need to wake up..40 years of a drug war did it help? Hell no look how many drugs were invented while we have a war on drugs..And what do they consist of? chemicals..How about throwing the NationAl drug prevention society in prison for paying Professor John W. Huffman to create JWH018 which is K2 this epidemic we are having..they funded the drug then once created stopped funding then put the research where it can be found and used again buy the next generation..What is a drug prevention group doing creations drugs?..keeping their jobs secure because they know the U.S. government and it's citizens are stupid enough to let it happen..Did they go to jail?nope..Did the ATF members go to,jail for letting cocaine be shipped here in exchange for info on rival cartels?or the guns the AtF told the U.S. gun shop owners to sell to the cartels..even after the U.S. gunship owners notified the ATF...Notice how we regulate nuclear stuff, and medication made from drugs but there is this little section we do not regulate which are mostly natural...this little section is profit to the government it helps create jobs like th ATF,FBI,CIA,DIA,DHLS,ICE..see where this is going?...Now we even have a gun task force thanks to Obama...Check out the song Gun Running and Drug Smuggling on YouTube.

"Violent crime associated with marijuana in Colorado and other states where you can purchase or use for medical purposes is out of control. "

JWH, can you cite references for this? Given that the change in the laws of Colorado are so recent, I would be surprised to hear that you have crime statistics for the period after.

You're joking, right? PPD does an excellent job. The DEA only seems to work off of anonymous tips. They have to be told, they rarely seem to do the job on their own. This huge operation should have been noticed long ago. It's all about forfeiture.

Lisa S.

5:28 pm on Wednesday, January 30, 2013

The DEA has many undercover agents. it's the nature of the job. That's where a lot of their 'anonymous' tips comes from. If PPD could have done it all alone, they wouldn;t call in DEA. Congrats to BOTH of them for getting a dealer out of my neighborhood.

And for the commenters who think grow houses in residentail neighborhoods are OK because drugs should be legal- I find it hard to believe it is still Ok if you have kids and it's YOUR neighbor.

Yes, this is my neighborhood too, and I think this is absolutely horrible. Glad to know that I'm not the only one. This house was next to a foreclosure - so fewer neighbors to notice. I think the PPD did a great job!

I went on a few law enforcement websites and read a few articles about crime in these states where they are still getting violent crime that is related to cannabis. Wake up people, crime will not stop just because its legal. Look at how much crime is related to alcohol.

Lmao you just keep on reading that bull..wi no recollection of who puts that report out..Let me explain..In a 2004 federal report that came out it said "of all the young people that went to rehabs for treatments went there when given the choice between jail and rehab understandably they chose rehab" now this is where we get statistics to say millions are addicted to drugs.....Let me ask this..if you are allowed to grow your own marijuana wht is it that you need with others..Especially since Marijuana has dropped in prices now that it has become legal..And Did you know the u.S. government says there is no medical purposes to marijuana but own the pattent number saying marijuana has medical purposes?....they did this to stop anyone from getting the patten number to pattent marijuana as a prescription..Know who the biggest anti marijuana finder was? DUPONT...they figured out how to make plastic and vinyl out of chemicals the same things you can make from marijuana..Medical marijuana was taken care of when ole Nixion signed the papers with Phizer pharma to start a "Private healthcare system"that leaves peoe to die and not pay for thei treatments like they are supposed to they deny you hoping you die before it is approved..Look up Rick Simpsons Hemp Oiland how people are blogging their recoveries from cancer, which federal laws prohibit Dr.s from doing so..Peoplecuring cancers in 28,35,45,60 days and no Chemo or Radiation..Do your homework..

DuPont even funded Reefer Madness..did ya know that..where Johnny hypothetically chopped up his parents after hypothetically smoking a marijuana cigarette..in a totally hypothetical situation..I believe the movie says....this is called Propaganda...Look drugs alter the body..like Acl your body is altered..Now most of the drugs are naturally..let's say ya get rid of marijuana..Doid you know you can huge high from Morning Glory seeds...you know the powers sold in most stores..How about San Pedro cast uses..which is like Mesculin...lmao...how about he poppy seeds bakers are ordering you know the poppy seeds on your sandwich that people say if you make a tea from you extract the Codine and Morphine from...but are on bread like it is nothing...and people have died from the tea...we have LSD but we also have LSA's that are natural...roots,plants,flowers,foods.....Prohibition is all about profit to government...and now it will be for Private Prison Owners...and about the alcohol..not as much violence as the Prohibition of alcohol caused..It made Mafias and gangs...people profited in record numbers when it was illegal..Now do you hear of bar owners making millions from selling alcohol?..nope you don't...Guess who Forbes top earner was..The man they labeled as one of the richest guys in the world?..Capo Guzman...a drug cartel Top Leader...he said " the U.S. War of Drugs is what made him the most money..Profit from being illegal. If you ban guns they will be worth more than drugs.

I think the current positive publicity event is the police news on the Patch. Only the minor stuff hits that page...and only the big stuff hits the front page. makes you wonder how much happens in between. people need to be informed, and more aware of the reality iof where we live rather than sugar coat it and gloss it up. if people paid more attention to what goes on in their neighborhood,...and in plainfield in general for that matter...we would have a very positive outcome. Apathy is our biggest problem.

This house is 3 houses from my mine...for you all "legalize it" people - you wouldn't want this shit in your neighborhood anymore than a meth house. I don't care what you smoke in your own home on your own time - I'm just saying you don't want this 50 feet from the park and school bus stops where your kids walk and play.

Absolutely agree. Not only is the house a health hazard, and a blight on the neighborhood for a long time to come, but imagine the characters associated with it. That is what i would be concerned- especially as a parent.

Neil Degrasse Tyson...this does affect you and I directly. The next person who moves into our neighborhood is going to have to spend a whole lot less on their new house than two days ago. This directly affects perception and value for properties here. Not speculation...17 years professional experience in home sales.
