Renwick Road Bridge Wins Award

It was a project more than two decades and $7.4 million in the making — but in October 2012, the Plainfield Township highway department unveiled the new, two-lane Renwick Road bridge.
Now, the structure, which replaced a more than century-old bridge, is receiving accolades.
Earlier this month, the project received a Project of the Year Award from the southwest branch of the Chicago Metro chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA).
Township highway department staffer Dick Anderson said the bridge was among 19 projects considered for the transportation award in the $5 to $25 million category.
Township highway commissioner Sam Reichert, highway department staff members and representatives of project engineer Hutchison Engineering and contractor Albin Carlson were recognized at a Jan. 9 ceremony at Heroes West Sports Grill in Joliet.
Anderson said the Renwick Road bridge is also in the running for a statewide award from APWA. Officials will find out whether the project has won another award in February, he said.

The Sam Reichart Bridge maybe, but to name a bridge Heroes and Legends is weird.

When will they build a bridge that connects 143rd and 126? Or, when will they make the I-55 exit at 126 a four way interchange?

I guess at least 10-15 years later, if at all. It's just talk. Every six months showing years old charts and studies is considered progress. Unless they are funded the plans on paper do not mean anything. With the state of the state's economy don't expect funding for major stuff like that any time soon.
