Josie E. Webb, 20, of Plainfield, posed for the mellowest of booking mugs after her arrest Thursday, Oct. 24, by Will County Sheriff's police. She was booked into the county jail and charged with manufacture/delivery of 10-30 grams of cannabis, police said. Her arrest and her "it happens" grin set off a debate on Plainfield Patch.
Olddeegee: Arresting and processing anybody on marijuana charges is a waste of police time. Write tickets, at least. It's time to change this.
Lucy: @Olddeegee, I get your point but isn't marijuana illegal? I'm happy to see her charged. She's not even legal to drink yet. I'd be furious if this were my child. Yes, heroin etc. is much worse but do we know what was in that manufactured marijuana? Shame on her.
Matt: The police are wasting there time and money trying to stop weed its a lost cause they will never win. if the government legalized weed it would make so much profit that it could take this country out of debt. And hemp can be used to make paper and it would be more eco friendly and cheaper weed is not a drug it is a plant that god created. people only look at the reasons why it is bad for you and don't look at why it is good and helps people.
Nick: I hate the grammar police on internet forums and comment boards, but the above post is just awful. When you present an argument and exhibit grammar like that, you are only hurting your own cause. When I read that, I instantly assumed a stereotypical vision of potheads who were probably too burned out to finish high school. My point is not put you down, but to simply say that if you are going to make a written "pro-pot" argument, take some time to capitalize where necessary. The proper usage of periods and commas probably wouldn't be a bad idea either. It will only help people take those arguments a bit more seriously.
Herc: Well Josie is just as happy as a lark! Idiot! Lisa S.: Poppies are a plant that God created to and we all know how that goes. Here's a novel idea: don't want to get arrested? Don't break the law. Because unless/until the existing law changes, you can argue endlessly about the good and the bad of legalizing marijuana and the end result doesn't change.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? Should an arrest on possession charges only result in a ticket? Or should it not be illegal at all?
