Mark Your Calendar for Lions Candy Day

Volunteers will be at the corner of Essington and Caton Farm roads on Oct. 11 and 12.

Plan ahead to take a drive to the Essington/Caton Farm intersection Oct. 11 and 12 to support the Plainfield Lions Club, which will be collecting donations in exchange for candy to benefit children and families in the Plainfield area.

Lions Clubs all over the country participate in this fundraiser. In 2012, the Plainfield Lions donated more than $14,000 to the area's neediest families for the holidays because of the money raised, according to a news released issued about the event.

Candy Day is also the top fundraiser for the services and programs sponsored by the group to help the hearing & visually impaired in Illinois. This event alone raises more than 50 percent of the total operating funds for the Lions International Foundation, the release said.
