Plainfield Police Nab Fugitives, DUI Driver During Thanksgiving Crackdown

Plainfield police teamed up with IDOT to conduct a Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement campaign Nov. 18 to Dec. 1.

The Thanksgiving crackdown resulted in one DUI arrest, two drug arrests and three fugitives apprehended, plus a whole lot of citations. Here's the breakdown for the IDOT-funded enforcement:

  • 126 seat belt citations
  • 16 child safety seat citations 
  • 1 DUI arrest
  • 1 felony arrest
  • 3 fugitives apprehended
  • 2 suspended/revoked license arrests
  • 10 uninsured motorist citations
  • 25 speeding citations
  • 2 drug arrests
  • 1 texting while driving citation
  • 19 other citations

The next IDOT funded campaign will be in conjunction with the Christmas and New Year’s Holidays and will run from Dec. 20 to Jan. 5, 2014.

I'm sure that after Jan 1 the "Text While Driving" citations written will out pace the seat belt and others ---combined. It can wait.

Nice work by Plainfield police, especially on the fugitives! I agree with Mr. Arter regarding texting while driving. As an avid cyclist, I have had far too many close calls with distracted drivers texting, including being grazed by a few bumpers & fenders.

Ahhhh, what about or who were the 3 fugitives. Fugitives from what and where. Somehow seatbelts are not news.
