5th Annual College Expo a Success

Plainfield Township hosted its 5th annual College & Financial Aid Expo on November 6th, and I am thrilled to report that it was our biggest event to date. We had a record number of colleges and universities participate, and a record turnout!

In 2009, we hosted our first expo with ten schools and a couple hundred people in attendance. This year, we had over twenty schools participate, and our rough count has us at over 650 people in attendance. This event has expanded every year, and taken on a life of its own.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who came to get information on the college process, and I hope each and every one of you found the expo to be informative, helpful, and well worth your time!

I’m also thankful to the college representatives who came to provide information on their respective institutions; from our regulars who have shown up all five years, to the new schools that participated for the first time (we hope you’ll be back next year!).

A great debt of gratitude also goes out to the representative from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), who provided extremely valuable information on the college financial aid process; this ended up being the most popular and visited booth of the evening!

For those who were unable to attend the expo, but would like some of the financial information that was provided, I encourage you to visit http://www.isac.org/.

We at Plainfield Township are very proud that this event has become so well attended over the years, and has provided important information to families that are attempting to navigate the college planning and financing process. We look forward to hosing our 6th expo next Fall, and making it even bigger and better!
