Community Corner

A new FOIA site for Plainfield

Today, a new FOIA site for the local community to use was turned on. There is no cost, and no personal information is required to use the site.

The goal of the site will be to eventually contain all publicly released FOIA documents from all local government jurisdictions, all in one place. No longer will there be a need to hunt them down across multiple websites, in the hopes that they are even being published. While Plainfield is the first site to go live, a Naperville, Shorewood, and Joliet site have also been requested and are currently in development. Foich has no connection to any government, and is fully run by volunteers like you.

Today, the School District and Park District have a limited set of responses available on the Plainfield Foich site. Over time, this will expand to other jurisdictions, such as the library and township. New responses are being posted on a regular basis, so make sure to check back often!

If you or someone you know have any previous FOIA documents from any local government body in your posession, it is also possible to send them in to Foich and have them posted for the entire community to see. If you work for or represent a local government body, your participation is welcomed and encouraged.
