Dog Park Naming Contest - Plainfield Park District

Plainfield pooches, and their owners, are wagging their tails in excitement over the new Plainfield Park District off-leash dog park at Norman Greenway, 13214 S. Blakely in Plainfield, opened late 2013. In honor of the occasion, the Park District is sponsoring a contest to select a name for the new park, where canines frolic freely.

To Enter: Write a short essay of 300 words or less about your favorite dog and their owner or handler, whether that person is 8 years old or 80, and why this person is so special around animals? You must include the name and age of the person the
essay is about. Entries will be accepted from now through March 31, 2014.

Submissions: All contest entries must include the writer’s full name and age, mailing address, daytime phone number and email address. The essay must be in Microsoft Word format and include a filled-out entry form (see Park District website at www.plfdparks.org for entry form). Entries then may be emailed to Corinne Vargas at the Plainfield Park District at vargas@plainfieldparkdistrict.com, or sent by mail to the Plainfield Park District, Name the Dog Park Contest, 23729 W. Ottawa Street, Plainfield, IL 60544.

Grand Prize: To have the Norman Greenway Dog Park named after the winning entrant’s favorite pet. Winner will receive a commemorative plaque. Dog Park naming ceremony to be given at a later date.

Runner up: Will receive a commemorative plaque and a free 2014 Ottawa Street Pool family pass, valid for the whole 2014 season.

Judging: All entries will be judged by volunteers named by the Plainfield Park District, and the fi nal selection will be determined by the Plainfield Park District Board. The contest is open to both residents of the District and non-residents. Employees of the Park
District, Commissioners, and members of their immediate families are not eligible to enter. All decisions of the judges are final. Entry of any submission shall be considered as acceptance of allcontest rules. Submissions are limited to one entry per person. See www.plfdparks.org for entry form and details.
