Plainfield Library Seeking P/T Marketing Assistant

The Plainfield Public Library District is looking for a creative, flexible, energetic and organized independent worker with marketing experience who enjoys both developing marketing materials and coordinating marketing initiatives. As a key member of our marketing team, this individual must be a good collaborator and team player. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about libraries, passionate about marketing library services and able to envision and implement dynamic ways to enhance the library image and market library services and materials. Responsibilities include:
Develops, designs and produces library publicity materials, such as handouts, newsletters, brochures, bookmarks, posters, signs and program flyers 
Develops and produces direct mailings and other mass distributions of library publications as needed. 
Assists with library-wide marketing activities, such as parade floats and special events. 
Assists the Community Relations Coordinator with special projects.
Creates and maintains online program calendars and programming sections of library web site as assigned
Assists the Event Coordinator as needed. 
Other duties as assigned.
 Requirements include:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, graphic design or public relations and two years public relations or marketing experience in a comparable business, organization, or library or Associates degree with three years public relations or marketing experience in a comparable business, organization, or library. 
Ability to write high-quality press releases. 
Proficiency with desktop publishing software to produce high-quality, well-written materials such as brochures and flyers. 
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and public. 
Considerable ability to organize job duties and work independently.  
Knowledge of print production. 
Demonstrated ability to speak in front of a group. 
Ability to remain calm and effective in difficult situations. 
Ability to exercise appropriate judgment and discretion. 
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. 
Ability to bend, stoop, lift and carry. 
Knowledge of PCs and Windows software applications including word processing, spreadsheet and database software. 
Ability to operate and troubleshoot audiovisual equipment. 
Ability to use a variety of office equipment.
Includes evenings, weekends and mandatory workdays. 
Access to a vehicle. 
This is a part-time position, 19 hours per week, including evenings and weekends. Base hourly wage is $16.66.
