Plainfield Park District Reveals a New Look

The Plainfield Park District has a new look that is creating a lot of buzz throughout the community. The website and logo have undergone a major transformation. The energy around updating the logo and website are part of the foundation for building up to the Park District’s 50 year anniversary in 2016.

“The original Park District logo has been in circulation for 30 years. We found it necessary to have a logo represent not just the Park District but represent all of Plainfield”, said Garrett Peck, Executive Director. The new logo represents the Plainfield community giving homage to the DuPage River that runs through the Village and the oak trees that you can find throughout the Park District’s grounds.

The website redesign was a necessary step in keeping up with technology. The previous website had been used for seven years. While cutting-edge at the time it was constructed, it no longer met the Park District’s needs. Thus, the Park District had to implement a new site to remain viable and to support our goals. The planning for the site took one year and involved working with an outside vendor.

One of the major changes to the site, apart from the revitalized graphic design, has been change in navigation. “Our need was to create a site that could be navigated easier and featured all relevant and updated information,” said Doug Booth, Interim Director of Communications.

Another major change to the Park District website is the web address which currently is www.plainfieldparkdistrict.com; the new web address is www.plfdparks.org. “We found the old address represented the Park District as a business and not a non-for-profit organization hence the change to an .org address. We also wanted to begin the process of shortening our web domain name and eventually our email addresses, which is still in the beginning stages of being updated,” said Booth. The old domain address will still be working for a couple of years while everyone in the Park District community gets use to using the new domain address.
