Registration open for 2014 Edward Plainfield Harvest 5K Run/Walk and Kidz Miler

The Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce has opened registration for the 16th annual Edward Plainfield Harvest 5K Run/Walk and Kidz Miler.  The races will be held on Sunday, September 28, with the start/finish at Village Green Park in downtown Plainfield.  The Kidz Miler will begin at 8 a.m. followed by the 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m.  A post-race party will be held at Tap House Grill, 22402 W. Lockport St., 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit local charities and community service organizations.  Last year, more than 1,000 runners/walkers registered for the 5K and more than 160 children participated in the Kidz Miler.

The online registration fee for the 5K (adults and children 13 and older) is $35 and the Kidz Miler (children 6-12) is $15.  The deadline for online registration is Thursday, September 25 at 7 p.m.  After that and on race day, 5K registration will be $40 and the Kidz Miler will cost $18.  Registration can also be accepted by phone at (815) 436-4431, fax at (815) 436-0520 and mail.  For more information or to register for the 5K Run/Walk and Kidz Miler, visit www.plainfieldharvest5k.com or call the Plainfield Chamber of Commerce at (815) 436-4431.

Pre-registered participants will receive a T-shirt and goody bag during the pre-race packet pick-up on Friday-Saturday, September 26-27 at the Edward Plainfield ER, 127th St. and Van Dyke Rd.

Kids 6-12 years old can also take part in the Edward Plainfield Harvest 5K “Design a T-Shirt” contest.  The winning design will be on the shirts handed out to the children who sign up for the Kidz Miler.  The winner of the “Design a T-Shirt” contest will also receive a $30 iTunes gift card.  For details and the official entry form, visit www.plainfieldharvest5k.com.
