Sanitas Medical Group Hosts Open House Nov. 13 at Silver Cross Hospital

With thankful hearts, Sanitas Medical Group invites patients and the community to a Grand Opening Celebration for their new office on the new Silver Cross Hospital campus.  The free event will be held Wednesday, Nov.13 , from 3 to 6 p.m. in Pavilion A, Suite 265, 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., New Lenox. 

 

There will be a multiple drawings to win a Thanksgiving Dinner, which includes a 12 to 14 pound turkey and $25 Jewel Gift Card.  Free health screenings for high blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes and complimentary refreshments will be available.  In addition, individuals who bring at least one non-perishable item for the New Lenox Food Pantry will receive a $5 Gift Card for Café 1900 or Java City at Silver Cross Hospital.

Attendees can also meet the staff including internal medicine physicians Drs. Arla-Polavarapu, Penaherrera and Ramirez, as well as Laura Scott, nurse practitioner.  The four experienced healthcare providers recently relocated their practices to the Silver Cross Hospital campus.  New patients are welcome.  Sanitas Medical Group accept most insurance and offer evening and Saturday appointments. Latha Arla-Polavarapu, D.O. is board certified in internal medicine. She earned her medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Arla completed a general medicine residency at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where she was recognized as Intern of the Year in 2001.  The past five years, Dr. Arla has been caring for patients in the greater New Lenox community.  She has a special interest in the diabetes management and care of women’s health issues and has received numerous awards for patient satisfaction including Professional Research Consultants Five Star Award and 2010 Top Scoring Physician Award for Overall Quality of Doctor Care.  Dr. Arla is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and American Physicians of India.

 

Jose Penaherrera, M.D. is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He received his medical degree in 1988 from San Marcos University in Lima, Peru. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, where he served as Chief Resident and an Assistant Professor. He has been on staff at Silver Cross Hospital since 1997 where he currently serves as Chairman of the Continuing Education Committee. Dr. Penaherrera has been recognized as a “Top Doc” at Silver Cross Hospital scoring in the top 1% of physicians throughout the country for patient satisfaction.  With a special interest in diabetes, cardiovascular and geriatric medicine, Dr. Penaherrera is trained to treat adults of all ages. He is trilingual speaking English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

 

Daniel Ramirez, M.D. is originally from Chicago and attended the University of Illinois where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He worked at Northwestern University doing Microbiology research prior to attending medical school.  He received his Medical Degree from the University of Illinois in 2008 and went on to complete an Internal Medicine residency at Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Ramirez is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. His interests include general adult medicine, diabetes, and hypertension. He has been recognized as a “Top Doc” at Silver Cross Hospital scoring in the top 10% of physicians throughout the country for patient satisfaction. He is bilingual speaking English and Spanish.

 

Laura Scott, N.P. received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Illinois. She received her Master of Science degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of St. Francis in Joliet and is Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Scott has worked as a Nurse Practitioner at Sanitas Medical Group since 2010. She previously worked as a registered nurse at Silver Cross Hospital for many years in various roles and was also employed by the Will Grundy Medical Clinic in Joliet for several years. Laura treats adults and adolescents and has a special interest in smoking cessation, diabetes, heart disease, and urgent care.
