The Shrimp Barn, currently located in Minooka, is a full service eatery known for mouth watering dishes like fish and shrimp tacos, grouper grilled to perfection, delicate soft-shell crab, and jumbo shrimp fried golden served with fritters that melt in your mouth. This will be the second location for the restaurateur who has worked in some of the most famous kitchens in Chicagoland including the Ritz Carlton Hotel and McDonald Corporation’s The Lodge at its Oak Brook campus.

With a name like The Shrimp Bar 'n Grill and a laid back atmosphere one might expect a menu to match. Chef and owner Robert Degen has added some culinary excitement for this location, “All the favorites from Minooka will be on half of the menu. We want to do something different here so the other half of the menu you will see dishes like, poached sea bass, lobster BLT, and a surf and turf burger”.  The Shrimp Bar 'n Grill also features a family friendly kids menu.

Built in 1844, formerly Lombardo’s and later Fiesta Mexicana, the downtown Plainfield location will feature a 35 seat beer garden (with room to expand) to enjoy craft beer and beautiful weather. The restaurant seats approximately 100 guests. This is the only location in downtown Plainfield that has a 30- car parking lot for those days when the weather is not so beautiful.

Thirty year veteran Chef Rob will be busy between the two locations, but has been very selective in making sure the clientele will have a good dining experience. His partners Nancy and Steve Paulson along with his wife Susette will oversee day to day operations and guest services. Degen recruited Chef Noel from San Diego to make sure the kitchen is serving up consistently beautiful dishes with a taste to match. Pastry Chef Erin will tantalize diners looking for a sweet finish to their meal.

Chef Rob and the staff are looking forward to the excitement of opening during the Plainfield Days weekend. “We feel blessed because so many have given us a wonderful welcoming already! We are excited to become part of the community and being in the mix of great Lockport street establishments”, said Susette Degen. The Shrimp Bar ‘n Grill is located at 24136 Lockport Street in downtown Plainfield.
