Community Corner

Thank You Fr. Mark and Fr. Rogelio!

We Wish You God’s Continued Blessings!

Join St. Mary Immaculate Parishioners in the Gym after all Masses on Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17 to thank these wonderful men for their service to our parish community.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio Fr. Mark’s family moved to Downers Grove when he was 6 years old. He  graduated from Downers Grove South High School and worked initially at Wendy’s and Red Lobster, then as a letter carrier for 13 years. Intense prayer and the sacrament of the Eucharist, led to his calling in the priesthood.

Fr. Mark was ordained a priest on June 2, 2007 at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus and served for 2 years at Holy Family Parish in Shorewood. In June 2009, he began his assignment at St. Mary Immaculate.

During his short time at St Mary’s, Fr. Mark has been deeply involved in the Reverence for Life Ministry, leading parish groups to Washington DC each year. He also was a member of the 2010 Malawi Mission Team and on Joliet Diocese mission trips to the Philippines.

Fr. Mark will serve as Parochial Vicar at Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Naperville.

Fr. Rogelio grew up in the Mexican state of Aguascaliente, in Central Mexico and came to St. Mary Immaculate as a priest-in-residence while studying for his Masters in Family Counseling at Lewis University, a degree he earned in May of 2011.

Fr. Rogelio earned his Masters in Divinity at CTU in Chicago. His first assignment was at St Patrick’s Parish in Indianapolis, his second in Chicago at St. Joseph Parish - Back of the Yards. He has also served as Assistant Formation Director for Friar Postulants of the Franciscan Friars of Joliet.

He appreciates the heartfelt welcome he has received from St. Mary Immaculate parishioners and the Plainfield community. While his pastoral work has been largely with the Hispanic Community, he has been a great help to the entire parish.

Fr. Rogelio will serve as Parochial Vicar at Saint Isidore Parish in Bloomingdale.
