After a 65-pound weight loss, Jesus Chavez of Plainfield will head to the June 27-29 race with pal Anthony Lazo Monsalve. Meanwhile, Tim White of Romeoville also said he will take on the obstacle course race, which includes both mental and physical challenges that are tough enough to stop more than 90 percent of athletes from finishing.
You can cheer on local contestants from home, according to race organizers. Fans can follow their progress online at Peak.com or on Twitter once the race begins.
