Green Program on Importance of Bee Gardens

Bee habitats around the world are being threatened, but their are ways to encourage the bee population through your yard landscaping.

A Green Village program on bees -- why they're important to the ecosystem, how bee habitats are being threatened and what people can do to increase the bee population -- will be held at 7 p.m. May 14 at the .

Bees are key to pollinating plants that produce flowers and fruit, but bee hives are being threatened internationally by a phenomenon known as colony collapse disorder. The program will discuss this, and will offer tips on how homeowners can enhance their landscapes with things that bees love.
