Home Movies Capture Returning WWII Soldiers and a Bygone Plainfield

Don Gettys, former president of Plainfield Community TV, compiled these movies into a video called "Plainfield Goes to War," the perfect Veterans Day salute.

In honor of Veterans Day, we are linking to this video called "Plainfield Goes to War," which was originally produced and aired in 1999 on Plainfield Community Television.

It was compiled from home movies made during World War II of Plainfield residents who were home on leave from the military or had just finished their tour in the service. The movies were shot by former Mayor Leroy Taylor and donated to the Plainfield Historical Society.

Because there was no sound with the film, voiceovers were done by Harold Pennington, Bill Miller, Jim Chobar and Hattie Eisenbrandt, who identified the people and offered personal memories of them or of Plainfield during the war.
