A lake effect snow advisory will be in effect from 11 p.m. Monday until 9 a.m. Tuesday in Will County.

Potentially heavy snow showers will develop after midnight and continue into early Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

While much of Will County will see little snow accumulation, the advisory means that lake effect snow could make travel difficult in some areas; according to the NWS, three to six inches of snow is possible east of Interstate 57.

A narrow band of heavy snow could affect areas near the lake in Cook County, moving into eastern Will County overnight.

Tuesday night, the forecast calls for a low of around -6 degrees, with a wind chill as low as -20.
