Plainfield Building Owners Recognized for Preservation Efforts

Preservation awards honors efforts to rehab historic Plainfield buildings.

The Village of Plainfield's Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) recently recognized several property owners for their investment in restoration efforts in downtown Plainfield.

"These projects reflect the commitment of property owners in making downtown Plainfield a unique and special place, as well as their dedication to historic preservation," the village said in a press release.

HPC Chairman Michael Bortel and Commissioner Leif Hendrickson presented the 2013 preservation awards to:

  • Coldwell Banker for architectural details done to the Jones Hardware building, 24034 W. Lockport St.
  • Kenneth Pennington, L. Eichelberger and Michael Rife for the rehabilitation of the Masonic Block building, 24050 W. Lockport St.
  • Owners Bill and Diane Habiger for restoration of the Opera House buildingt, 24027 W. Lockport St.
