Plainfield United Methodist Church’s Green Team Small Group will host its second annual “Really, Really Free Market” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Plainfield United Methodist Church, 15114 S. Illinois St., to encourage the community to come together and aid one another.

This year, the Green Team is pleased to announce that co-sponsoring the event are the Village of Plainfield and Friendship Baptist Church.

After spring cleaning, many might have rediscovered unnecessary items that they may not want or need any longer. These items could be taking up valuable space in one’s home.

PUMC is providing the venue for redistributing these items. It is a place where the community can come together for fellowship and help each other. It is a way for individuals to obtain items that they would otherwise not be able to afford.

It is a global movement, a free alternative that counteracts capitalism by providing a form of “gift economy.”
