Plainfield Fest Sees 15,000 Attendees

by Erin Gallagher

Plainfield Fest saw record crowds estimating 15,000 attendees, according to Festival Chairman Rob Epley in a Herald News story.

"We've had record crowds they year," Epley said. "It's unbelievable."

Businesses also noticed the impact.

"We've been absolutely swamped," said Cathy DeAvila, owner of Cathy's Sweet Creations on Main Street. "We stayed open Friday night until 9 p.m. We had trouble closing the doors because it was so crowded."

The festival raised $100,000 for the Plainfield Riverfront Foundation, Epley told the Herald News.

The foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds and public awareness to develop the Plainfield Riverfront as a regional cultural, natural, economic and recreational amenity, according to www.plainfieldriverfront.org.
