Plainfield Juniors Accepting Scholarship Applications

Deadline to apply is March 15.

Submitted by the Plainfield Junior Woman's Club:

The Plainfield Junior Woman’s Club is once again offering $500 scholarships to select young women at all four high schools in Plainfield District 202.

PJWC will be selecting one high school senior at each school for the award.  The student must be planning to attend a junior college or four-year-institution, and have shown strong community ties through volunteer work and service.

“The committee looks for young women who are good students, but even more so we are excited to see students who have used their time and talents to give something back to their school or community in a volunteer and/or leadership capacity,” says Laurie Hillman, PJWC Education Chair.

To qualify, female students must have maintained at least a B grade point average through their high school career, have a letter of recommendation from a service organization with which they have worked, and have filled out an application form including short written statements about future goals, the value of community service, and the importance of being involved in school activities.

PJWC created this scholarship opportunity to help recognize and reward local young women who are on the path to even greater success in their future.  As per Hillman, “If we can have even a small part in helping them achieve their goals, we are happy to do it.  We feel as if we are "paying it forward" to the future of our community.”
