Plainfield Library's Summer Reading Program Starts June 2

This year's theme is "Paws to Read."

Hop down to the Plainfield Public Library, 15025 S. Illinois St., to register for this year's all ages "Paws to Read" summer reading program or do so online, beginning Monday, June 2. 

Patrons must have a valid Plainfield Public Library card to join the program. Those who sign up in-person during registration week (June 2 to June 6) can enter free drawings for prizes donated by area merchants. 

If you miss Registration Week, don’t worry about begin in the doghouse: you can still register up until Saturday, July 19.

Over the course of this nine-week program, children, teens and adults can become top dog, earning special treats for their reading.Reading requirements for each program will be included with the registration materials.

Monday, June 2
1 to 2 p.m.  Culver’s Mascot, Scoopie.

Tuesday, June 3
Surprise appearance by Library mascot, Star (retired greyhound dog). 

Wednesday, June 4
1 to 3 p.m.:  Help Save pets, a humane society in Plainfield’s Pet Adoption Fair outside of the Library.

2 to 3 p.m.:  Joliet Slammer’s mascot, Spikes.

Thursday, June 5
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.:  ZonCom Productions: Have your picture taken with your pet! Dogs must be leashed; all other pets must be in carriers.

(Pet) Food for Fines

Paws to Read and help our furry friends! Sign up for Summer Reading during the week of June 2 to 7, and exchange fines by donating pet food and supplies that will benefit Help Save Pets, a humane society in Plainfield 

Animals on Parade Exhibit – Plainfield Art League

Visit the Youth Services Department to view original pieces, featuring animals of the world, created by area artists from June 2 to June 13.
