Plainfield Police Announce EastSide Shuffle Road Closings

April flooding prompted organizers to postpone the Plainfield East fundraiser.

Plainfield East High School’s inaugural “EastSide Shuffle” 5K run and walk is now planned for Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Settlers' Park, 24401 W. Lockport St. in downtown Plainfield.The event was originally scheduled for April 21, but was canceled following the flooding rains that occurred the week before.

The family-oriented event will benefit the PEHS Band Boosters and the PEHS Science Club.

The EastSide Shuffle is open to participants of all ages. Children younger than 8 years old can participate at their parents’ discretion. 

The 5K Run and Walk will start at 9 a.m. A special “One-Mile Superhero Sprint” event, which will also include a costume contest for participants will start at 10 a.m. 

Plainfield police have announced the following road closings during the event:

  • Village Center Drive between Lockport Street and Van Dyke Road.
  • Van Dyke Road from Lockport Street to its south end.
  • Ottawa Street from Van Dyke Road to Ira Jones Middle School
  • Wallin Drive at Ira Jones Middle School

Parking will also be prohibited on Van Dyke Road, Village Center Drive and Ottawa Street within the road closures. 

Police anticipate all roadways will reopen to normal traffic at approximately 10 a.m.
