Plainfield Staffer Recognized by Village, CAPE

Dave Countryman was recognized at the June 17 board meeting.

Village officials recognized Plainfield Public Works staffer Dave Countryman at the board's June 17 meeting, presenting him with a replica streetlight.

It's a fitting gift, considering that in April, Countryman won the District 202 Coordination of Administration and Parent Groups for Education (CAPE) 2013 PTSO award for his work in securing a new LED streetlight near Plainfield Central High School.

The new light illuminates the mid-block crosswalk along Fort Beggs near the high school. Countryman helped coordinate donation efforts to fund the new light, along with its installation.

"His efforts have provided a significant pedestrian safety improvement for hundreds of students that utilize this crosswalk each day," Mayor Mike Collins said, before presenting Countryman with a token in recognition of his award — a working replica of the streetlight.
